Warlock Patrons

These are some of the entities that will take a piece of a Warlock’s soul to grant them power. This list is not exhaustive. If you have an idea for a specific patron, we can discuss it.

The Archfey

Capricious, beautiful, and utterly amoral, the fey are divided into two main factions, the Summer Court, which embodies light and warmth; and the Winter Court, which embodies darkness and cold. Do not be fooled by appearances, however. The Summer Court is just as perilous to mortal mind and body as their icy cousins.

Notable members of the Summer Court
  • Titania, Queen of the Summer Court
  • Prince Oberon, her consort
  • Robin Goodfellow, a notorious trickster
And the Winter Court
  • Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness
  • Baba Yaga, the first Hag
  • Czernobog, the Executioner

Asmodeus was once the most beloved and powerful of all the angels before he slew the god he served out of jealousy and led a rebellion against the gods. He and all his followers were cast into the Abyss as punishment. They warred with the demons who lived there and carved out a stronghold for themselves. They now hold nine layers of the Abyss, known as the Nine Hells. Each layer is ruled by an Archdevil of immense power. Since they themselves are unable to leave the Abyss, if they want to inflict their will upon the mortal realms, they need mortal servants.

The Archdevils of Hell
  • Zariel, Archduchess of Avernus. Commander of the infernal legions, her domain is on the front lines of the Blood War against the demons of the Abyss
  • Dispater, Lord of the Iron City of Dis
  • Mammon, Lord of Avarice. Archduke of Minauros
  • Fierna, Archduchess of Phlegethos
  • Levistus, Archduke of Stygia. Forever trapped in ice in his realm after attempting to overthrow Asmodeus, the Archduke still rules from his icy prison.
  • Glasya, daughter of Asmodeus, Princess of Hell. Archduchess of Malbolge.
  • Baalzebul, Lord of the Flies. Archduke of Maladomini
  • Mephistopheles, the Cold Lord. Archduke of Cania.
  • Asmodeus, King of Hell. Rules from Nessus, the 9th layer of hell.

The Great Old One

There are whispers of an ancient and forgotten god, bound at the deepest level of the Abyss. Its name has been lost to time, but it is known as the Chained God, or the Elemental Eye. The power it offers is immense, but the price is higher than any of its followers ever realizes.

The Raven Queen

The goddess of death is unique in that she does not have any clerics or paladins devoted to her. Instead, she empowers her servants directly by taking a piece of their soul early and granting them power in return.
